| Exploring with clay during the cold months of winter can be a playful way to reconnect with the earth. The earth was often and still is seen as a womens body. Many ancient clay and stone images portray a female goddess, many of which were fertility goddesses. The fertility goddess provided many cultures a visual expression of their strong belief that the mother was the great creator, source of all things. Observe your own image as mother and find connection with the mothers and fertility goddesses of long ago. Express your fertility self-portrait as mother using self drying clay. Add symbols that identify your creative strengths (perhaps you have protective wings or your breast are heavy from giving). |
