The workshop is designed to initiate creative problem solving through fun and innovative projects that will inspire your creative journey. Basic instructions encourage members to share ideas and explore a variety of materials with one another.

Inspiration lanterns are easy to make candle holders created from glass jars and wire. Lighting your inner sparkle with inspiration lanterns will invite a sense of silence and solitude into any sacred place. The project looks quite involved, but you'll see that once you get started you're already almost done! The key is being prepared so be sure to look over the junk box list carefully.

some loose Instructions — let your imagination guide you:

The primary functional feature of this project is to get the wire securely attached to the jar so that it can be suspended. Start with exploring how the wire fits around your jar. Try simple loops tightly wound at the neck base, twisting as you go to create a secure fit. Creating a wire basket effect is another possibility, using a variety of wires webbing them to hug your jar. Next, create an attachment to suspend the candleholder. Integrating beads that dangle from thinner wire incorporated throughout your piece can create a variety of visual effects — making your lantern personal and unique! Once you bring your inspiration lantern home place a scented votive candle in it and light up your creative spirit!

junk box materials:

glass jar — baby food jar, jelly jars (with decorative reliefs!)
wire — look for a wire that is pliable yet strong enough to hold its shape
beads — make sure the holes are large enough for the wire!
music — decide who will bring a CD player
camera — send us a photo and we’ll post it in the gallery!
