weeks of 2/4-2/17/2001 date: time: location: silent time word: snow intro sentence: Time stood still once when I... jewel box: revisiting exercise — i music books notes: Music is known to inspire — it touches the spirit and takes us to a deeper side of our creativity. Some of us engage in music because we are musicians, but most of us simply enjoy what music brings to our daily lives. In the revisiting exercise for this winter season, you will share and explore music with your circle. Each mom in the circle is asked to select a piece of music to share with the circle. While each piece is played, members listen silently and reflect on their feelings and emotions either through writing, drawing or collage. These reflections are compiled into your own personal music book. At the close of the meeting members share their books and reflect on the experience. |
| Directions At home: Each circle member selects one piece of music from their personal music library and brings it to the meeting. Write on a piece of paper the title, musician and number of the piece to be played — tape it to the CD. Before you start: Moms, place your music choices in a pile by the CD player. Choose one member to be in charge of playing the music. Take 4-6 sheets of paper any size and fold in half. Sandwich the folded paper together to form a book. Have your junk box and/or writing tools near by. Write the name and author of the piece selected (you may choose to write it on the back). Let the music begin! (silence please…no talking except for reciting titles and authors) Play the piece and let it speak through the materials you've chosen to work with. Continue doing this for all the musical pieces selected using a fresh page to explore each piece of music (remember no talking!). The final touches. Personalize and title your cover. Share with circle and discuss your experiences through this project. You'll need: CD player favorite CD's paper personal junk box camera — send us a photo and we'll post it in the gallery! |
